Retirement Villages

Are you living in a retirement village or have family members that do? You may be thinking of moving to a retirement village. Or perhaps you own or manage one. Then this website is for you.

The retirement villages sector is complex - the operation, management and lifestyle vary from village to village. New legislation, which came fully into force in 2007, offers greater protection to residents and intending residents.

The Retirement Commissioner is responsible for monitoring the effects of the new legislation, administering the disputes process and approving adjudicators for appointment to a disputes panel.

The Department of Building and Housing is responsible for administering the legislation.
