Every two years the Retirement Commission facilitates a symposium that encourages discussion and debate on retirement income research policy issues.
To date, three symposia have been held in Wellington. Both have been attended by a mix of international, academic, government and private sector experts.
The latest symposium was held in Wellington on 1 December 2006. It explored the importance of financial literacy and what's happening here in New Zealand and overseas.
The second symposium in 2003 included presentations and discussion on the net wealth of New Zealanders, Australians and the adequacy of private savings for retirement.
The first symposium was held in 2001. The discussion and presentations focussed on saving and retirement policy issues.
